ONE DAY IN BRYCE CANYON

One day in Bryce Canyon National Park is relatively short, but you can still experience some of the park’s highlights. Here’s a suggested one-day itinerary which lets you make the most of your one day at Bryce Canyon National Park with a combination of hiking, beautiful drives, and opportunity to see both the sunrise and the sunset.:

 

Morning:

1. Sunrise at Sunrise Point:

  • Start your day early by witnessing the sunrise at Sunrise Point. The changing colors of the hoodoos in the soft morning light create a magical and serene atmosphere.

2. Queens Garden Trail:

  • Head down into the canyon via the Queens Garden Trail. This trail takes you among the hoodoos and offers unique perspectives of the rock formations. It’s a moderately strenuous hike but provides an intimate encounter with the landscape.

3. Explore the Amphitheater:

  • Spend some time exploring the Bryce Amphitheater from Sunrise Point. Take in the panoramic views and marvel at the intricate rock formations from various viewpoints along the rim.

Midday:

4. Visitor Center and Bryce Point:

  • Visit the Bryce Canyon Visitor Center to gather information, check for trail updates, and learn about the park’s geology and history. Afterward, drive to Bryce Point for additional breathtaking views of the amphitheater.

5. Lunch:

  • Have a picnic lunch at one of the designated areas or enjoy a meal at the Bryce Canyon Lodge if you prefer a sit-down dining experience.

Afternoon:

6. Navajo Loop Trail:

  • Hike the Navajo Loop Trail, which is accessible from Sunset Point. This trail takes you further into the canyon and provides close-up views of iconic formations like Thor’s Hammer.

7. Inspiration Point:

  • Visit Inspiration Point for more stunning views. The overlook offers a different perspective of the amphitheater, and it’s a great spot for photography.

8. Bryce Canyon Scenic Drive:

  • Drive along the Bryce Canyon Scenic Drive, stopping at overlooks like Natural Bridge and Farview Point. These stops offer additional vistas and photo opportunities.

Evening:

9. Sunset at Sunset Point:

  • End your day with the sunset at Sunset Point. The changing colors of the hoodoos during sunset create a breathtaking and memorable scene.

10. Stargazing:

  • If you’re staying overnight, take advantage of Bryce Canyon’s designation as an International Dark Sky Park. Find a dark spot away from artificial lights, and enjoy the brilliance of the night sky.
